If there is one thing in football that can help you defeat a team that has better players, it has to be…the Big E’s: EMOTION, EFFORT, ENERGY, and ENTHUSIASM. I don’t care how much better your players are than your opponent or how many more games you have won, if you players don’t play with emotion, energy, effort, and enthusiasm, you will probably lose the game. Take a look at the game between Ohio State and Virginia Tech two weeks ago.
Virginia Tech went into the game against a more talented Ohio State team and wanted desperately to regain relevancy in the upper elite of college football. They went into the game with a chip on their shoulders and played with more of the Big E’s than Ohio State did and defeated the Buckeyes in Columbus. Now fast forward to last week. East Carolina traveled to Blacksburg, Va. with a chip on their shoulders to play a more talented Va. Tech team. They played with more of the Big E’s and defeated the Hokies. There is no way Boston College should have defeated the 9th ranked Southern Cal Trojans when they played last week. USC was one of the more talented teams in the nation and were heavily favored to defeat Boston College. But again, Southern Cal didn’t drink their cup of Big E’s Juice before the game and lost. Louisville losing to Virginia and Iowa losing to Iowa State, just to name a few, yep…you guessed right…they didn’t play with the Big E’s.
So as you follow your favorite team next week you better hope once the ball is kicked off, that they they play with the Big E’s !!!
