“We cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard” Acts 4:20
I saw an interpretation of this verse in a devotional book the other day that really made a lot of sense to me. We must be bold and not be afraid to speak the truths in the Bible. So many times we make excuses and try to justify why we compromise and water down God’s Word. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
The disciples lived with Jesus 24/7 and were taught by him for 3 years! He told them to go and to teach others…. they were to teach exactly what Jesus taught them. The people that had just killed Jesus told the disciples not to speak in Jesus name and to stop teaching what he taught. They did it anyway!!! If we continue to be silent, then we must ask ourselves, “Have we seen and heard the same as the disciples?”
If we are going to call ourselves Christians and be one of His, then “We cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”
