A Week With Bobby Bowden

This week we (I really mean my wife Linda) will be watching my son Ryan’s little boy, who he named Bobby Bowden. It only took me one day to remember how important mothers are. At his age, which is 19 months, you have to watch him 24/7.

The first real bond the child makes is with his mother, which actually begins with voice recognition before birth in the womb. This is where the special intangibles that God only gave women begins. Mothers are willing to sacrifice their time, sleep, and personal interests in order to provide a loving stable environment for their child. This doesn’t even include the physical effects of pregnancy and childbirth. And men, I think we can all agree, this is an experience that none of us would want to undertake. The saying, “a mothers work is never done” is so true.

My wife and I both called our mothers to wish them a Happy Mothers Day. But this experience with our grandson has caused us to reflect and appreciate them even more.
